Carotid Ultrasound

Ultrasound of the neck arteries to check for narrowing or plaque that can affect stroke risk.

$275.00

A carotid ultrasound examines the carotid arteries in the neck, which carry blood to the brain. It uses Doppler ultrasound to look for plaque buildup or narrowing and to measure blood flow. Doctors may order it after a stroke or mini-stroke, for dizziness, or for patients with risk factors such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

No preparation is needed. Wear a top that leaves your neck uncovered. The exam usually takes about 30 minutes.

This exam is performed by an ARDMS-registered sonographer at our Beverly Hills office, and is also available through our EZ Diagnostic mobile ultrasound service at your home, clinic or care facility. Images are interpreted by a board-certified physician, and results are sent to your referring healthcare provider. Please bring your physician’s order and a photo ID to your appointment. Questions?
