Ultrasound of the pelvic organs through the lower abdomen, available as a complete or limited exam.
A transabdominal pelvic ultrasound images the bladder and pelvic organs through the lower abdomen. In women it evaluates the uterus and ovaries, for example for pelvic pain or abnormal bleeding; in men it can assess the bladder and prostate. A limited exam focuses on one specific question.
A full bladder is needed for clear images: drink about 32 ounces of water one hour before your exam and do not empty your bladder. The exam usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
This exam is performed by an ARDMS-registered sonographer at our Beverly Hills office, and is also available through our EZ Diagnostic mobile ultrasound service at your home, clinic or care facility. Images are interpreted by a board-certified physician, and results are sent to your referring healthcare provider. Please bring your physician’s order and a photo ID to your appointment. Questions?
