Transrectal / Prostate Ultrasound

Ultrasound of the prostate gland, typically ordered to evaluate prostate size or an abnormal exam or PSA result.

$175.00

A transrectal ultrasound uses a small, lubricated probe placed in the rectum to obtain clear images of the prostate gland. Doctors may order it to measure prostate size or evaluate an abnormal prostate exam or PSA blood test.

Your doctor may ask you to use an enema before the exam; please follow the preparation instructions you are given. The exam usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and you can return to normal activities right away.

This exam is performed by an ARDMS-registered sonographer at our Beverly Hills office, and is also available through our EZ Diagnostic mobile ultrasound service at your home, clinic or care facility. Images are interpreted by a board-certified physician, and results are sent to your referring healthcare provider. Please bring your physician’s order and a photo ID to your appointment. Questions?
